"L'Etagere Du Travail" is an independent release by THE TANGENT, It's a collection of demos and shelved projects recorded during the "Le Sacre Du Travail" sessions.
What's On It?
Firstly 5 Songs that are previously unreleased. All at DEMO stage (high quality) and performed by Andy Tillison playing all instruments with assistance on (3) from LUKE MACHIN!
1. Monsanto. A fast paced funk driven bash casting a wary eye over the activities of the U.S. multinational food/biotech corporation.
2. "Lost In Ledston" was written to commemorate the difference in the way the media reported the death of Margaret Thatcher at the Ritz Hotel in April this year, and the way the people of the North of England remember her. This song is not a pointless insulting rant by any stretch of the imagination and musically includes one of Andy's finest synth solos ever.
3. "The Iron Crows" is a song about the labourers in the impromptu ship breaking beaches of Chittagong in Bangladesh. It's based on a rendition by the Tangent of a Claude Debussy composition taken from his suite "La Mer" (The Sea). The section is called "Dialogue du vent et de la mer" or "Dialogue between wind and waves". Luke Machin did some test guitar work for this piece back in early 2012 which he has graciously allowed us to use.
4. "Build A New House With The Lego". Striving for individuality in a world of pre made slogans for all occasions....
5. Supper's Off. A cynical view of modern life, the book of Revelation and the book of - er, Genesis? A MAJOR Tangent track that no-one will want to miss...

7. "Steve Wright In The Afternoon" with Andy's original vocals and a couple of solos that were cut from the "Sacre" version
9. "A Voyage Through Rush Hour" stripped back to a piano duet with no orchestration.
10. "The Ethernet" - a new version mixed and SUNG by now King Crimson singer JAKKO JAKSZYK
11. "The Canterbury Sequence" recorded live in the USA in 2005!
