Stratovarius — финская англоязычная пауэр-метал группа, образованная в 1984 году, изначально под названием Black Water. Пришедший в группу в 1985 году Timo Tolkki стал основной движущей силой в группе и сформировал звучание в стиле пауэр-метал и симфонический металл. Stratovarius стали одними из ранних исполнителей пауэра и существенно повлияли на развитие этого направления. В 1994 году группа приглашает нового вокалиста Timo Kotipelto.
