Catawompus, a five-piece, twin-guitar-attack band out of Nashville, TN rocks things up a little, Southern style, on their third CD ....Well It's About Time. The album consists of ten songs all penned by the band, including the set opener "Ain't But Life Too Short for That," which consists of some really impressive guitar hooks and tight vocals. "Sunday Morning" features a driving, melodic guitar attack, and "Jeannie" is a nice blues flavored ballad. With music that at time sounds a lot like The Allman Brothers Band or Gov't Mule, Catawompus have a good thing going. This release stands as their best effort to date. by Michael B. Smith
=================================
With this new young band from Nashville, it's a bit different from bands such as Mississippi Sludge, Drivin & Cryin, and Brother Cane which play a heavier music. They certainly can play it this way, but they choose to explore one of the most important things in southern rock music, the dual harmony on guitars, the chorus and vocal harmonies and last but not least, the rock'n roll spirit. Perfect , great job. We could recently read they consider themselves much more closer from the 70's bands (Lynyrd Skynyrd, Outlaws, 38Special) than today's ones with their heavier sound.
